What's Your Dream? If your dream is to use technology to collaborate on an art performance combining music, gaming, theater, movement, and cutting edge entertainment models, then the Dream Machine course is for you.
Content and Skills Students will learn both the content and skills they need to design an interactive experience. They will discover how to express the energizing ideas of Afrofuturism, and experiment with transformative artistic practices to create interactive narrative, immersive audiovisual environments, and live and recorded performance assets.
Unique Opportunity and Platform In this unique academic and artistic experience, students will work in and on an innovative, experimental digital platform, Nona Hendryx’s DREAM MACHINE.
Afrofuturist-Infused Aesthetics and Practices This course draws on all of the humanities and performing arts to explore not only the newest form of cultural expression, but also an aesthetic infused with Afrofuturism, the socially relevant and necessary artistic and imaginative practice that engages questions about the African diaspora, speculative fiction and design, equity, political creativity, and technology.
